Tactile World received a new US patent for a System and Method of Tactile Access and Navigation for the Visually Impaired within a Computer System. Based on this patent expiring in 2028, our lead time from launch of the Tactile Explorer to a launch of a similar product or technology by competitors would be fourteen years.

Matthew Wohl attended the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) convention in Orlando, Florida and presented the Tactile Explorer.

Matthew and Yulia Wohl, traveled to Chicago, IL to make a presentation to NAblement at the Itkan meeting in the Microsoft Technology Center. Attending were 20 people from 12 different organizations including Freedom Scientific. The reception was very positive. While in Chicago, a presentation was also made at the Chicago Lighthouse attended by Tom Perski, President and various staff members.
After further discussions over the next few weeks it was agreed that they would also like to manufacture the Tactile Explorer in their factory using blind workers and distribute it thru their sales network. Once again both parties agreed to search for the funds to begin this process.
June/July 2012
Matthew and Yulia Wohl spent 3 days as guests on the campus of the world famous Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA. Many meetings were held with Steve Rothstein, the school president and staff members. Presentations were made and then we began training a group of students. The training and evaluation continued for one month. At the end of that time the Perkins School offered to manufacture and distribute the Tactile Explorer thru their web site.
They were especially impressed with its use as an inexpensive Refreshable Braille Display. Cost for this project was estimated by the Perkin professionals at $600,000 and would take 6 months to implement. Both parties agreed to search for funds for this purpose.

The Hi-Center (Haifa's Business Accelerator) met with the directors of Tactile World to discuss our participation in their program. They provide office space, professional support, bookeeping and 1 million shekels (approx. $ 250,000) as an investment from the city of Haifa and Office of the Chief Scientist of Israel. Tactile World is responsible for providing 1 million shekels of matching funds. We are presently opening a round of 1 million shekels of investments. For more information about Hi-Center see

Tactile World Ltd. took part in the International Trade Fair "Ideas – Inventions – New Productsis" (iENA 2010) Nuremberg,
Germany on October 27 – 31, 2010.
iENA is a unique trade show that showcases numerous inventions, new products and innovations from all of the world that are available to license, market or manufacture. It brings inventors and entrepreneurs together with industry and business representatives. This year the show attracted more than 800 inventions and new products from 37 countries.
Tactile World presented it's System for Computer Access for the Blind which integrated several innovations supported by three international patents and three patent applications. Our exposition attracted a lot of interest from iENA participants and was awarded a SILVER MEDAL.

Tactile World Ltd. presented the Tactile Explorer at the Conference for Integrating the Handicapped into the Workforce held by the Ministry of Industry Trade and Labour in Tel Aviv.
The conference focused on updating NGO's and public offices about changes in the laws in this area and how to work towards integrating the handicapped into the workforce.
The Tactile Explorer was presented as a simple and cheap tool, directly aimed at facilitating the integration of the blind, severely visually impaired sector of Israeli society into the workforce.

Israel TV Channel 9 presented a news magazine report by Eugenij Erlich that featured the Tactile Explorer being used by four blind members of our TW's team at the Aleh Center for the Blind on the Hebrew University campus. As a result of the report we received a large number of calls from people who were very excited about this development in the market of accessibility accessories and wanted to know where they could get such a device.
Tactile World (TW) was invited to present the TE at The World Innovation Summit 2009 in Tel-Aviv. The presentation by Shira, a blind member of our team, was received with great acclaim.
